imageOn Wednesday, millions of Americans will celebrate the 154th anniversary of Juneteenth, a day of celebration to commemorate the abolition of slavery in the United States. For marketing consultant Tiandra Robinson, Juneteenth is an opportunity to celebrate and support local small black-owned businesses.
Through her media consulting agency, T. Marie Consulting , Robinson created “502 Black Business Week.”
This week, more than 40 local black-owned businesses are offering deals, promotions and discounts.
Why support black-owned businesses?
The Courier Journal recently reported that black entrepreneurs nationwide are more likely to struggle.

Most rely on personal equity and family support to open a business rather than using traditional capital such as business loans or credit cards — which they are more likely to be denied.
In coming years, Robinson hopes to include more businesses and branch out to other cities.

You can find a list of participating businesses at .
